“ Finally got round to trying this place after walking past it so many times and it seems like a cheap and cheery sort of place. We were quite curious as the reviews are quite mixed but I have to say we were pleasantly surprised - everything was very tasty! We had starters of the salt and pepper squid and chicken, and the Belacan (shrimp paste) french beans. Followed by mains of braised pork rice and the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Both were very delicious and we cleaned it all up. I think if you go in just expecting a simple and no frills, but tasty meal, then give it a go! ”
“ Away from the bustle of Chinatown streets, delicious freshly cooked food. Very polite service. We were trying to find somewhere slightly more relaxed without a queue and stumbled across Old Tree Daiwan Bee. A simple menu with English descriptions and accepts card payment. We'll be back in the future to try something else off the menu, the chilli beef was very spicy (we like spicy!). ”

“ A nice and authentic little place for Taiwanese food. Simple seating, pleasant and attentive service, great flavours. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup was great (they can adjust the flavour and spice level to your preference). The brown sugar bubble tea that I got for take-away tasted just right, like in Taiwan (all my previous attempts in London to find the right taste had been unsuccessful). To illustrate the portion size: the beef noodle soup was hearty, and the portion was of a good size, enough for a nice meal (maybe, if you're a huge man, you might want to add something in addition, but I was full). They do accept cards, although cash might be their preference. The trip to the bathroom was a bit of an adventure: it's downstairs where their kitchen is, there was somebody sleeping in the corner with their face covered with a hood Not an issue, just illustrating the ambience so you don't expect a Michelin, this is an authentic little place. I'm looking forward to visiting again when I'm around, to try more of their dishes, as it was a shame I could only fit one dish in me. It's great if you come with company, as then you can try several things at once! ”

Service was attentive, probably too attentive (they were hovering over us, which made it slightly awkward!) as we were a handful of customers at that time. Overall, everyone liked the soupy Taiwanese dishes. ”
